The Tempest

1611

The Tempest is Shakespeare's final solo-authored play about Prospero, the exiled Duke of Milan, who uses magic to shipwreck his usurping brother and other enemies on the island where he lives with his daughter Miranda. The play explores themes of power, forgiveness, and colonialism as Prospero ultimately chooses to abandon his magical arts and forgive those who wronged him.
